Model Overview

The Sehol X6 is a compact SUV rolled out on 19 June 2022 by the Sehol brand—a next-generation marque born out of the joint venture between JAC Group and Volkswagen Group. At launch, the SUV was offered in five variants, with official retail prices spanning between RM79,900 and RM114,900. In May 2023, the Sehol X6 received a model-year update featuring four variants: Youth Edition, Sport Edition, Struggle Edition, and Dream Edition, priced from RM106,900 to RM118,900. The 2023 lineup phased out the manual gearbox entirely, standardising on a 6-speed wet dual-clutch transmission across the range. Positioned in the RM100,000-bracket compact SUV segment, the X6 primarily targets younger buyers, going up against key rivals like the Haval H6, Changan CS75 PLUS, and Geely Boyue series.
Design Language
The Sehol X6 sports a fresh, trend-forward design language, highlighted by a prominent "Meteor Lightning" front grille with a blacked-out parametric mesh that seamlessly blends into the headlamp clusters on either side. The lighting setup comprises "Dual-L Fighter Wing" LED daytime running lights alongside 9-unit matrix LED reflective headlights. Along the sides, the SUV carries sharp, rugged character lines, an upswept shoulder line, a floating roof design, and dual-five-spoke alloy wheels. Around the back, it features "Guitar Strings" full-width LED taillights with 20 integrated LED diodes, complemented by a blacked-out rear bumper and a roof-mounted spoiler. Dimensionally, it measures 4,505 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, and 1,698 mm tall, with a 2,660 mm wheelbase. Inside, the cabin adopts a multi-tiered wraparound layout enlivened by vibrant orange accents across the centre console, door trim panels, and contrast stitching. A 12.8-inch floating central touchscreen with Full HD 1080p resolution is standard across the board, complemented by either a 3.5-inch or 7-inch instrument cluster display.
Powertrain and Performance
Under the bonnet, the entire Sehol X6 range is powered by an HFC4GB2.4E 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine churning out 110 kW (around 150 PS) and 230 Nm of peak torque. The engine is equipped with an i-VVT variable valve timing system. The 2022 model year offered buyers a choice between a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed wet dual-clutch transmission; for 2023, the 6-speed wet dual-clutch transmission became standard across all variants. Drive is sent exclusively to the front wheels (FWD). On the WLTC combined test cycle, the manual variant is rated at 7.6 L/100 km, while the automatic variant returns 7.9 L/100 km. Top speed figures have not been officially disclosed. The SUV runs on RON 92 petrol. The vehicle is backed by a 3-year or 100,000 km manufacturer warranty.
Chassis and Handling
Under the skin, the Sehol X6 rides on front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link independent suspension setup. Co-developed and tuned by chassis specialists from the UK's HORIBA MIRA and Magna, the setup strikes a balance between road-bump compliance and handling precision. The overall ride character leans heavily towards family-centric ride comfort, cleanly soaking up minor road imperfections on regular tarmac. Steering is managed by an Electric Power Steering (EPS) system. Stopping power comes from front ventilated disc brakes paired with an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB). It rides on 225/55 R18 tyres. The vehicle kerb weight is recorded at 1,470 kg.
Cockpit and Features
On the digital front, the Sehol X6 is fitted with the HOL-OS smart cockpit system. Its 12.8-inch central screen is backed by a high-performance 6-core CPU, 4GB DDR4 RAM, and 64GB of internal storage, delivering crisp 1080p Full HD resolution. The infotainment system integrates iFLYTEK's latest-generation smart voice assistant, capable of 60-second continuous dialogue, wake-word-free triggers, contextual understanding, voice source localisation, and natural human-like speech recognition. The multimedia suite aggregates apps including AutoNavi Maps, QQ Music, Ximalaya, iQIYI Video, and WeSing. Drivers can also use a dedicated smartphone companion app for remote engine start, climate control pre-conditioning, digital key sharing, and real-time vehicle telematics.
In the audio department, the Sehol X6 features the HOL-Music premium sound system co-developed with iFLYTEK, configured in a 4.1.2-channel layout via an external dedicated DSP, 11 high-fidelity speakers, and bespoke acoustic tuning software. The 8-channel DSP is powered by an Analog Devices Sigma300 series chip, pushing out a sustained 320W of output power. It offers three tailored soundstage presets: Mini Club, Private Cinema, and Concert Hall. In terms of creature comforts, higher-tier variants gain an openable panoramic glass sunroof and an exquisite crystal-faceted rotary gear selector. Practicality-wise, standard boot capacity is rated at 485 litres.
Safety and Intelligent Driving
Safety-wise, the Sehol X6 is built around a high-strength body structure. Passive safety equipment includes dual front airbags and front side airbags as standard. On the active safety front, the SUV is equipped with an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and related essential systems.
Advanced driver assistance is a headline selling point for the Sehol X6. It comes equipped with the HOL-Pilot Level 2 ADAS suite driven by Mobileye's class-leading EyeQ4 vision chip, capable of processing over 2.5 trillion floating-point operations per second. The system builds environmental perception through AI vision algorithms. Functions bundle full-speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Integrated Cruise Assist (ICA), and more. The ACC system features Stop & Go capability suitable for both urban traffic and highway cruising; AEB detects forward vehicles and crossing pedestrians via camera, intervening automatically if the driver brakes too late or applies insufficient pedal pressure; Lane Keep Assist can be operated seamlessly alongside cruise functions. To ease parking and manoeuvring, the X6 also comes equipped with a high-definition 360-degree surround-view camera with smooth, seamless image stitching.
Market Performance and Evaluation
Following its commercial launch, market uptake for the Sehol X6 remained largely subdued. Total annual sales stood at roughly 3,314 units in 2024, dipping further to just 760 units in 2025, before recording a cumulative 12,797 units across January and February 2026. Market analysts observe that since the Sehol brand was introduced in 2018, it has struggled to carve out a decisive foothold, with low brand recognition remaining a primary bottleneck for sales volume. Among owners, the car earns praise for its generous cabin room, comprehensive equipment list (notably the 360-degree camera), and the decent day-to-day running economy of the 1.5T engine. On the whole, bolstered by standout features such as the 12.8-inch smart infotainment display, the 11-speaker 320W HOL-Music audio setup, the Mobileye EyeQ4-powered HOL-Pilot Level 2 ADAS suite, and independent rear multi-link suspension, the Sehol X6 carved out a tech-forward value proposition in the RM80,000 to RM120,000 compact SUV segment. Nonetheless, hamstrung by weak brand equity, limited marketing push, and cut-throat market rivalry, its showroom performance never quite lived up to its on-paper capabilities.
